The National communications officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress , Sammy Gyamfi has disclosed that, his lawyers will soon be file a notice of appeal at the High Court .
Sammy Gyamfi stated this on his Facebook page hours after a ruling by the Court in a defamation case filed against him by the Minister of Energy , Mathew Opoku Prempeh in 2019.
Per the judgement by the High Court, Sammy Gyamfi will have to pay damages of 500,000 Cedis for the defamation case in which he alleged that, a suspect in a kidnapping case was an errand boy of the Manyia South Member of Parliament.
But , the MP who was not happy about the allegations filed a defamation against Sammy Gyamfi.
reacting to the ruling by the Court, Sammy Gyamfi indicated that, the press conference he organized was meant to debunk allegations by some members of the ruling New Patriotic Party that suggest that, the kidnappings was masterminded by the Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.
According to Sammy Gyamfi, it is his considered view that, the Court has erred in its ruling contrary to evidence that was put before the Court by his witness as he described it as a miscarriage of justice.
He therefore stated that, his lawyers will be filing a notice of appeal and an application of stay of execution to challenge the decision of the Court.
