Social and political activist, Kwame Asare Obeng, who is popularly known as Kwame A-Plus has filed a suit at the Supreme Court of Ghana over the recent sim card registration process. In the suit, Kwame A-Plus charged the Supreme Court to give him clarifications on why the NIA is blocking the sim cards of Ghanaians when they(NIA) have failed to fully issue Ghanaians with the Ghana Card.
He believes that the NIA have violated the laws of Ghana and he is in the Supreme Court to demand answers and possibly stop the ‘illegal’ blockage of sim cards.
“We are in the Supreme Court to seek a declaration that the action of blocking SIM cards by Dansoman Tatiana Ali” her agents and all stakeholders is unfair, capricious, abuse of power, and a breach of the fundamental human rights of ordinary Ghanaians”
“A declaration on a true and proper interpretation of Articles 2, 23 and 296 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, the defendants are estopped from blocking the SIM cards of Ghanaians who have not been able to re-register their SIM cards until such a time where the NIA is able to issue the Ghana cards to all Ghanaians.”
Host of With All Due Respect show on Loud Silence TV, Kevin Taylor has reacted to this case being filed by Kwame A-Plus. According to Kevin Taylor, the case will surely be thrown away without giving a fair hearing. Kevin Taylor seems to have a strong faith in what he saying to Kwame A-Plus because he knows what the Chief Justice can do.
This comes after Mobile Network Operators in Ghana began blocking unregistered SIM cards since Monday, September 5th. The NCA on Sunday, September 4 released the punitive actions to be taken against unregistered SIM cards. This has affected several Ghanaians including those who have even registered.
